Ukraine: Nearly 119,000 people contract flu over last 24 hours

A total of 567 people have died of flu and flu-like illnesses in Ukraine since the start of the flu epidemic, including 11 over the last 24 hours. The epidemic threshold was exceeded in 19 regions, Crimea, and in the cities of Sevastopol and Kyiv.

A total of 118,730 people have contracted flu over the last 24 hours (76,068 on December 21), including 63,558 children under 18 years of age. Over 3.241 million people have contracted flu and acute respiratory infections since the start of the epidemic (October 29).

The Ukrainian Health Ministry earlier said that Ukraine would face a second wave of flu and flu-like illnesses in early or mid-January.
